The Job

The Copywriter will generate the words, slogans and audio scripts that accompanies advertising visuals. This may include conceptualising ideas, creating slogans, catchphrases, messages and straplines for digital campaigns. However, it also involves writing text for print advertising, as well as scripts for radio jingles and TV commercials.

You will be responsible for:

  • Liaising with clients and interpret their briefs
  • Developing creative ideas and concepts, often in partnership with the art director
  • Presenting ideas to colleagues and clients
  • Familiarising yourself with your clients’ products and services, the target audience and their competitors’ activities
  • Being in-synch with the trends in digital media to write clear, persuasive, original copy
  • Proof-reading copy to check spelling and grammar
  • Amending, revising or redeveloping advertisements or campaigns in response to feedback from the creative director, account team or clients
  • Overseeing campaigns through the production stage to completion
  • Working on several campaigns at once, sometimes under pressure and often to tight deadlines
  • Casting actors for TV and radio work, and listening to voice tapes
  • Liaising with production companies, photographers, typographers, designers and printers
  • Keeping up to date with popular culture and trends
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of advertising campaigns

The Profile

  • You have at least 3 years’ relevant experience, ideally within Interactive & Digital Media
  • You have an interest in commerce, popular culture, and new advertising trends and techniques
  • You are highly creative and imaginative
  • You have a good understanding of digital platforms
  • You possess good written and interpersonal skills
  • You work well in a team
  • You are able to work under pressure
