The Employer

Our client is a leading game development firm in Asia Pacific and is part of a global video game company. The Singapore branch has been here for more than a decade with a multicultural team of over 30 different nationalities. 


The Job

The Technical Director will report to the Producer and will create and deliver the title in co-production, leveraging key technologies and design breakthroughs.

You will be the gate-keeper for projects, particularly towards the end, in order to ensure a good finish.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Preparing, planning and executing the strategy for the console generation change. 
  • Defining and promoting what the Next Generation AAA experience will be and executing the vision.
  • Defining technology that is best for the project, understanding the engine, the middle ware and their constraints and further identifying project risks and contingency plans along with the team.
  • Collaborating with the leads to manage the development progress and identifying the programming tasks along with time estimates.
  • Ensuring that the game is being built with the right methodology and best coding practices in place.
  • Developing the best tools and dev processes to guarantee the team’s efficiency.
  • Demonstrating leadership, enthusiasm and exemplary sense of commitment, even in critical situations.
  • Managing the performance of the development team members and managing direct reports.
  • Ensuring that proper recruitment, on-boarding, development and professional training is imparted to the team.
  • Communicating project plan to the team on a regular basis and taking up the role of a coach in order to inspire and motivate the team.
  • Making sure that each team lead defines clear and challenging objectives to their team members.
  • Proposing solutions to improve the projects' development and identifying and promoting the application of best ideas.
  • Growing competencies and awareness by defining the platform architecture and specs to the team.
  • Sharing constructive experience both internally and externally in the group.


The Profile

  • You have at least 10 years leadership experience, preferably within game industry and also have relevant experience working on AAA titles, current and next-gen consoles.
  • You possess excellent leadership skills and and communication skills to motivate, influence and inspire subordinates and peers at all levels.
  • You can articulate a strong vision of technology as a means to customer value.
